3 Unconventional Instagram Content Tips for Interior Designers

FILED UNDER:

For Interior Designers, Instagram Tips

I see you: trying to keep up with posting while also doing your actual job (designing), but it sucks feeling like you don’t have anything to show for it. Let’s fix that, shall we? In today’s post, we’re diving into three unconventional (read: I don’t see the gurus talking about these 👀) Instagram content tips for interior designers to help you drive up engagement, build stronger connections with your audience and get inquiries from your social media efforts.

Now I’m not going to promise you that these three tips are a magic bullet, but they ARE easy ways to create better content that not only gets engagement, but makes your followers want to book a discovery call.

Tip #1: Use your own photos.

This one sounds fundamental, I know. But WAY too many interior designers are wasting valuable grid space with other designer’s content. Using other people’s content without their permission violates Instagram’s terms of service (but I won’t get into that because I know you’ve heard it before. If you haven’t? Check out this post on how to create more content without committing a copyright violation).

The part I want you to remember is that using other people’s contnet doesn’t allow your audience to build trust with YOU and fall in love with YOUR work.

Tip #2: Post photos of yourself + your team.

Yes, it’s important to focus your content on your design projects and the work you do. But your followers also need to get to know YOU and see how you stand out from the sea of interior designers out there. Incorporate your face into content regularly, and you’ll start to see the “social” benefits of social media.

Tip #3: Seriously, don’t forget a call to action!

This one I know you’ve heard before but bear with me for a second.

Your followers are scrolling through thousands (if not tens of thousands) of pieces of content every day. We consume so much media that our attention spans are only getting shorter and shorter. If you want engagement – meaning comments, saves, shares, and inquiries – you’re going to have to ask for it.

And that’s where your call to action comes in. It’s not just a fancy marketing buzzword, it’s literally telling your community how to engage with your content.

The Conventional Instagram Content Tips for Interior Designers

These tried and tested tips work for a reason – you don’t want to forget these when you’re creating content! So consider this your checklist to steal:

  • have a goal for each post (that isn’t just “book a service” – that can be the goal for some, not all!)
  • craft a hook that makes your reader pause and want to continue
  • ensure your imagery is high quality and scroll stopping
  • spend time engaging – don’t just post and ghost!
  • make sure your profile is optimized so anyone finding you from your content knows what to do next
