3 Ways to Repurpose Your Instagram Content (Guest Post by Felly)

Social Media Marketing

Before we get into it, I want to put a disclaimer on content repurposing. One of the best parts of being able to repurpose your Instagram content into new forms is that everyone consumes content differently.

Some people love to read blog posts, while others only scroll the stories. I’ve had people tell me that short-form video is overwhelming to watch or that they won’t read a long caption.

Just because you’ve already said something, doesn’t mean everyone consumed it, processed it or understood it. Some messages need to be delivered multiple times before it’s received.

Does that mean you should just continue to share the same post over and over? No. You’ll be flagged as spam in no time. By repurposing, you get to creatively twist your content to deliver the same message and reach different people in different ways time and time again (without burning you out by trying to create a new post every day – read this blog post to see why that’s not necessary)

Who Am I to Talk Repurposing?

Hi, my name’s Felly and I’m the owner and CEO of a content repurposing agency, Felly Day VA! My team and I work with booked and busy coaches to repurpose their existing content into new pieces of content.

Most of our clients are very active on Instagram and want to repurpose to build their omnipresence across new platforms. That’s where we come in, turning IG captions and mini-trainings into blog posts, email newsletters and new Instagram content.

Content Repurposing is what I talk about all day every day. So without further ado, let’s see how we can turn your existing Instagram content into new content!

3 Ways to Repurpose your Instagram Content:

Stories and Lives

If you’re the type of entrepreneur who shows up and provides mini trainings, there are so many opportunities to repurpose for you.

The easiest is saving your videos and editing them into a Reel, Tiktok, Youtube Short or Video Pin. The biggest edit required with turning a live or story into short-form videos is cutting out the dead space. The pauses and the ramblings that happen in a live can be cut out to keep the video short, snappy and to the point.

And then a fun edit you can make: once you have a bank of videos, turn them into a fun montage video, add them to a day in the life vlog or share a business transformation reel.

Carousels Posts:

A carousel post is already in the layout of a blog post. Same for your long-form Instagram captions, even though those were only in for a hot minute!

Any educational post that looks like “3 ways to” or “5 things you”, turn that into a blog, mini-training or use the points on a trending reel.

The best part of listicles is you can expand or contract the bullet points. Take away the details and just share the bullet points in a reel or expand and provide detail in a blog post.

Reels:

There are 2 main styles of Reels on Instagram right now.

The first is Trends. These are perfect for delivering quick tips but they lack the ability to go in-depth. Repurposing your reels into carousel posts, mini-trainings or infographics can be a good way to educate your audience.

Original Reels or Talking Reels are usually longer than 15 seconds and more of a storytelling style of video. This type of video makes for great spin-off stories. Cut out the story part and just deliver the value in a Instagram story, live, carousel or shorter Reel.

There is a misconception about content repurposing that you need to have a lot of content already created in order to start. But all you really need is a mission, a message and a few content pillars to get started.

If you’re someone who struggles with creating new content week after week, start looking through your analytics and existing content for inspiration. I promise it cuts the creation process in half!
