It’s officially December, and 2023 is just around the corner. With as busy as you probably are during this holiday season, your well of content ideas might be running a little dry. To make staying active on social media easier, I’m giving you 10 Instagram content ideas you can use this month (holiday themed, of course!)
1. Share your holiday wishlist
No matter which holiday you celebrate, we all know how fun it is to give (and receive) gifts this time of year! What would you put on your wishlist? This can be done genuinely, or you can share the things you wish you could put on your list (like in this blog from Between the Lines copy!)
2. Show off your team in the spirit of the season!
Have a team behind your business? Get together – in person, or virtually – and share a snapshot. Bonus points if you get dressed up 🎅🏻
3. Give your best holiday-related tips for your industry.
Want an easy gift to give to your audience? Give them some actionable advice to make their holiday season easier.
The amount of content ideas you can get from this one are endless. For example: if you’re an interior designer, share how you would decorate your home for the holidays. Or, write up how to solve a common problem clients run into around the holidays. If you’re an airbnb host, create a carousel providing advice to guests on how to get the most out of their holiday stay. If you’re a service provider, share tips + tricks for your ideal client to survive the holidays.
4. Organize a holiday giveaway.
Everyone loves a giveaway, and when done right they can be a fantastic way to expand your community! Offer a product or service in exchange for a follow + engagement, or partner up with some peers to create a holiday bundle. I’m sharing one of these in collaboration with a client and I’m SO excited about it.
5. Share a post celebrating the holiday(s) of your choice.
Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or another holiday, share your season greetings with your Instagram community 🤍
6. Create a #12DaysofChristmas series.
Whether it’s a series of tips, giveaways, aspects of your business – knock out your December content ideas with a themed series.

7. What are your holiday plans this year?
With this prompt as your jumping off point, you can come up with so many content ideas! Share a reel recapping a fun holiday event local to your area, or make a post detailing your holiday offers for your clients 🎁
8. Remind your community of your hours of operation / OOO periods.
This may not be as engaging as the other posts, but it’s still important! Let your clients and customers know when you’ll be available and when you won’t be. We all should be taking time off to celebrate the holidays without stressing over social media, so don’t be afraid to log off!
9. Share a “Top X of 2022” Roundup.
Show off your expertise in your industry by creating a helpful roundup post of an aspect of your work. Need a push to get started? If you’re an interior designer, recap the top design trends of 2022. If you’re an online service provider, share (for example) the top social media trends of 2022.
10. End of Year Wrap-Up For Your Business
Share what your business accomplished this year, with a roundup reel of projects, a recap of key stats (such as guests hosted, clients served), or take a storytelling approach and publish a post of what you got up to in 2022.
What to Remember With Your Holiday Content Ideas
This is the time of year that people are starting to log off of social media and get ready to enjoy the holidays with their friends and family. If engagement is lower, that’s normal! Continue posting to nurture your community, but don’t put pressure on yourself to have “viral” reels or hit your highest numbers.
