A Day in the Life of a Social Media Manager

FILED UNDER:

Business

Running my own business means every day looks a little bit different. But even though my schedule can be slightly unpredictable, I wanted to give you a peek at what this Wednesday looks like for me, the CEO of ABC Social Media Management. Hint: it’s a combo of work, fun and a small dash of chaos, so buckle up for the ride!

6am: Wake up + do my morning routine

Even though I loveeee to sleep in, my schedule honestly doesn’t usually allow it. So yes, I am one of those entrepreneurs who wakes up early! I typically start the morning with journaling and some time for reading.

6:30am-7:15am Emails + client work

Once I’ve journaled, I check slack and email to get caught up with any messages that came in overnight. Next, I’ll dive into a little bit of light client work. Today, this looks like potential client follow ups, conducting a profile audit, and scheduling emails.

7:30am Starbucks

I can’t live without my starbucks! Though to most people’s surprise, I don’t actually drink coffee – I down two to three strawberry acai refreshers with lemonade most days.

8am-11am Riding

I started my own business to have the time flexibility to ride, so of course my day includes a stop at the barn! Depending on the day I’ll ride anywhere from 2-5 horses and spend some time caring for my ponies. This is the best part of running my own business – that I’m able to pursue my biggest passion, and I will always be grateful for it.

12pm-1:30pm Strategy Session with a Copywriter

My strategy sessions are 90-minute power hour+ calls where we go over an in-depth profile audit, get into all your nitty gritty questions about social media, and after you get a custom content strategy and 60 content ideas (across feed posts, stories and reels) for your business.

Want to book your own? Click here to reserve your session.

1:30pm-1:45pm Post client content

Although I love a scheduled post moment, some content has to be posted manually! I’m publishing stories for one client and a reel for another.

1:45pm-3:45pm Create client content

Wednesday is my content creation day for my management clients, so I’m diving headfirst into canva, photo editing and caption writing for a solid two hours. Once it’s created, I upload the content to Airtable and send my clients a message that it’s prepared for their review.

4pm-5pm Instagram Strategy for Interior Designers Webinar

5pm-6pm Read by the pool

Another non-negotiable for me as a business owner? Time to recharge and relax. In the summer, that means spending time by the pool – sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes an hour – to read my latest book and rest my brain from the screens.

6pm-8:30pm Build Your Own Course Webinar in the Do-Ers

One of the best decisions I made for my business? Being a part of a community. The Do-Ers, run by Ashli Pollard, is a group of female entrepreneurs. As part of the membership we get monthly webinars and masterclasses, and this month’s is on building a course.

It’s the best place on the internet (and I’m not just saying that because I’m also the community manager, promise).

8:30pm-9pm: Evening Routine and Go to Bed

After a jam-packed day, it’s time for me to head to bed and get some rest before another crazy Thursday.

Did you enjoy hearing about a day in the life? Questions about the work I get up to? I’d love to hear what you thought!
