7 Benefits of a Social Media Manager

Social Media Marketing

If you’re like many interior designers, you’ve felt the stress of not knowing what to post on Instagram or watching with envy as your competitors seem to attract clients with ease with their marketing. In the beginning, it’s a chore on your daily to-do list, one you do out of obligation. You know that you can’t wait for the day that you’re able to outsource this part of your business. But what will happen when you do? Here are 10 benefits of a social media manager ⤵️

You don’t have to worry about if you’ll be able to come up with content to post

How much of your day is spent wondering what you should post? Whether you should come up with a reel or a carousel? What should you put on stories? And will you say the right thing that generates that seemingly elusive engagement?

All of these worries and more get to fall away when you bring on a social media manager for your business. While you are still responsible for your business’s overall direction and strategy, the right social media manager will take that direction and your goals and craft a content plan that helps move you toward them. Using your photos and videos, your social media manager will handle the rest.

You’ll see your reach and engagement increase

Across the board, clients see increases in their reach and engagement once they bring on a social media manager. This comes not only from the consistency gained from having a SMM – they’ll post regularly, week after week – but from the increase in quality of content. When posts are created by someone who lives and breathes social media, you can rest easy knowing that they are strategically created for success.

You won’t have to stress over algorithm changes and platform updates

One of my biggest goals when I work with a client is for them to never have to stress over an algorithm shift or trend. That becomes my job – to study what’s working, what isn’t, and apply what’s relevant to their business. All you have to do is what you do best: designing stunning homes.

You’ll see your following grow with the right audience

While I can never promise virality or explosive growth, I can *practically* guarantee that barring some external factor, your account will grow with the RIGHT audience. Meaning no bots or spam followers (we remove those for you!) but with people interested in your design work and who want to be a part of your community.

Your social media will bring in new leads

This is one of the trickiest parts of organic social media management – clients want to know what the return on their investment will look like in terms of sales. The truth is, I cannot tell you. It will look different for every business, depending on your content funnel, your level of investment, and your stage of business. But over time, quality social media management attracts & nurtures potential leads and yes, even helps convert them.

You get to focus on the parts of your business that you enjoy and thrive in

Hate creating reels? Sick of scrolling? Good news – with a social media manager, you can literally choose to NEVER log into your Instagram again. Those hours you spent stressing over social media can now be spent on the parts of your business that light you up. Whether that’s your finances, design work, business strategy, or networking – your calendar is now much more open because you don’t have to think about writing captions or catching up on comments.

You free up hours of your day for revenue-generating activities

This is where you get to see the return on your investment for social media management! Let’s say you spend 5 hours a week (which, lets be real, is probably on the low end 😉) on your social media. That adds up to 20 hours a month.

Now consider what your hourly fee is for design projects. According to Forbes.com, these rates can range from $50-500/hour, so let’s say on average you charge $200/hour. If you’re spending 20 hours a month on Instagram, that’s $4000 of your time you’re spending on marketing ‼️

If you were to hire a social media manager for $1800/month, you’d reduce your time spent on Instagram to roughly 2 hours over the course of the month (between reviewing content and occasionally capturing new photos + videos for your social media manager), meaning your investment in both pay and your time would cost you a total of $2200/month. This leaves you not only with an $1800 profit, but also 18 hours of potential revenue-generating work ($3600) that you’ve now freed up.

How do you know if you’ll see these benefits of a social media manager?

If you are hiring a social media manager to save your business, because you are desperate for sales and are grasping at anything that might work, you likely will not see these benefits. Organic social media management works best when you

  • Have proof of concept (clients have paid you and you know your processes)
  • You have a clear idea of your target audience and who you want to work with
  • You have photos + videos to use for your socials and are prepared to invest in content
  • And you know your customer journey from never-met-you to signing-the-contract

But if you know the role that social media plays in your business, are prepared to trust your social media manager, and are in it for the long haul, you can see amazing rewards from getting this part of your business off your to-do list.
